In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Systems Analyst must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology and systems, business and public administration, business analysis, technical writing, or a related field is preferred.
Possession of one or more approved information technology certificates preferred
Experience Required:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting business systems, data analysis, or reporting in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment is required.
Experience working with operational datasets (e.g., transactional, compliance, or program data) is required.
Project management experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of communicating, collaborating, presenting to, and building relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
Ability to convert IT technical language into Front Line First user-friendly learning
Ability to use a range of technology and tools, including but not limited to PowerBI, Looker Studio, SAS, SQL, Python, Microsoft Office, and Google.
Demonstrate high levels of instructional expertise, integrity, honesty, credibility, and the courage to make difficult yet necessary decisions
Knowledge of data analysis concepts, including data cleaning, exploratory data analysis (EDA), statistical methods, and KPI development.
Knowledge of business systems and application support, including system configuration, upgrades, testing, and maintenance.
Knowledge of data visualization and reporting principles, including dashboard design and effective communication of insights to non-technical audiences.
Effective strategic planning capabilities, including the ability to establish long-term vision and goals, and align/manage activities toward goal fulfillment
Knowledge of operations, budget/finance, management and organizational development
Ability to define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps
Excellent time management skills with the ability to complete assigned tasks on schedule

Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions; however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
